The desk

Editorial policy

Wizarding Journal Staff is the byline on this site. It is a fan desk, not a newsroom with a license, and not an official companion to the stories. The footer disclaimer stays on every page.

What we publish

Standing pages are short original notes: lore, a lexicon, portraits, a map we drew, chapter observations, and parlor games. On Monday, Tuesday, and Friday the morning job may add one longer essay, about a thousand words, on a rotating subject: a lore explainer, a character study, a theory breakdown, a book-and-film difference, a world deep dive, an institution, the Fantastic Beasts shelf, or the Hogwarts Legacy game. Other mornings it leaves the shelf alone. The essay needs a thesis, scenes described in our own words, and a structure that is not the same paragraph five times. The job refuses a draft that is too short, too long, badly formed, a repeat of a title already on the shelf, or padded with stock phrases and repeated lines. A failed draft is not published.

Facts and guesses

An essay keeps “what the stories show” apart from “where this is a guess.” Speculation is labeled on the page. It is not promoted into a fact because it is interesting. The same rule is spelled out, with the stamps we use, in the canon policy.

Quotations

We do not paste passages, dialogue, or lyrics. A book or chapter may be named. A few words inside quotation marks, if they appear at all, are a pointer, not an excerpt. Generated drafts that arrive with a longer quotation are rejected.

Spoilers

Each note can carry the book where the material becomes visible. A visitor who sets “Read through” earlier than that book sees the note blurred. On an essay, that tag is the latest book the piece actually touches, in the body, the facts, or the guess, not the first book where the subject appears.

Corrections

If a fact is wrong, or a guess is wearing the wrong label, write through the contact form. We read stored messages. We do not promise a reply on a clock, and we do not treat a reader note as a commission.

Advertising

The site may show third-party ads, including Google AdSense, once a publisher ID is in place. Ads are not an endorsement by the rights holders, and an advertiser does not assign the essays. The privacy policy describes cookies those ads may set.
