Acromantula
A giant spider species. One of them was raised from an egg in the castle and then had to live in the forest.
Acromantulas are not ordinary spiders scaled up for a scare. They speak, they hunger, and they remember who brought them into the country. The forest colony is a consequence of a student’s illegal pet and a gamekeeper’s loyalty. Affection created a habitat the school then pretended was a rumor.
Canon fact: they are a classified beast, and a colony lives near the castle. The conversation in the web is a scene, and it stays in the book.
