The third film is an election story. Grindelwald wants a wizarding office the novels never staged, and the counter-plan is a creature: a qilin that bows to a leader who is not lying. Because he cannot win that test honestly, the plot turns on a corpse and a counterfeit. That is the film’s own machinery. The summary stops before the last ballot.
Dumbledore and a group of uneven allies — a baker, a professor, a magizoologist — move pieces because a blood pact keeps the two great wizards from dueling. The pact is film canon. The seven books show the duel’s aftermath in a memory and do not show this committee.
Theseus, Yusuf Kama, and Queenie’s choice sit in this chapter of the serial. Queenie’s turn back toward Jacob is the film’s human ending, beside the political one. Both are the picture’s business. A reader who has not seen it can use the spoiler control on the page and skip the last movement.
