Book 1 · Philosopher’s Stone · Chapter 4

The Keeper of the Keys

Did you notice?

Hagrid arrives as the opposite of the household: too large, too frank, carrying a cake and a fact. ‘You’re a wizard’ is delivered in a hut on a rock, which is a kinder classroom than the cupboard. He is bad at the parts of the secret he was told to keep. That flaw is planted as charm.

Foreshadowing

His tenderness toward dangerous creatures, and the expelled-student wound, pay out whenever the forest or a hearing needs him. Trust the feeling. Do not trust the confidentiality.

This echo points at book 3. It is a reading note, not a quote.
