Dragons
Large, classified, and illegal to hatch in a wooden hut. The books use them as both wonder and regulatory problem.
Dragons are not pets, even when a gamekeeper’s friends treat an egg like a secret. The first book puts a hatchling in the story to show how fascination outruns sense. A later tournament puts an adult dragon in an arena, which is spectacle with a rulebook. Different scales, same animal: fire, territory, and a ministry that would like them registered.
Species names — Norwegian Ridgeback, Hungarian Horntail, and others — are canon labels. This note does not tour a reserve. It marks dragons as creatures the world cannot quite domesticate.
