Accio is reach. A broom, a book, a key: the charm collapses distance if the object is free to move and the caster can focus on it. The tournament year makes the spell look heroic. It is still a fetch. The drama is what you needed badly enough to call.

Summoning something that does not want to come, or that someone else is holding, is where the charm stops being a convenience. The books use that edge sparingly.
