Draught of Living Death
A sleeping draught so deep it mimics death. It appears as a riddle obstacle and, later, as a brewer’s prize.
The Draught of Living Death is a name that does the work. Drink it, and you sleep like the dead. In the first book it is part of a logic puzzle guarding a stone. In the sixth it is a test of who can follow a recipe better than a famous potioneer. Same potion, different argument: once about cleverness under pressure, later about craft and a borrowed textbook.
No steps here. The name and the two uses are enough to cross-link the years.
