Felix Felicis

Liquid luck. For a few hours the drinker’s choices tend to come good, which is more unsettling than a simple blessing.

Felix Felicis is luck you can bottle, brew slowly, and abuse. The sixth book treats it as a prize and a temptation: one perfect evening, then the question of whether you earned the result. Luck as a potion flatters the idea that fortune is a craft. It also cheapens courage if you only walk forward while the flask is open.

The stories are wary of a second dose. That wariness is the interesting part. Canon fact: the potion is real in the plot and dangerous to rely on. The night it changes is still the novel’s to tell.
