Phoenix

A phoenix in this world is a cycle: fire, ash, a chick, the same bird. The headmaster’s companion is the one readers know, and the bird’s tears close wounds that ordinary care cannot. Song, in the books, is a kind of courage you feel rather than a spell you learn.

Phoenix feather is also a wand core. That is a material fact in the wand lore, separate from this journal’s parlor pairing. The creature itself is not a mascot. It chooses.
