Draco Malfoy
A Slytherin student from a rich pure-blood family. Harry’s school rival, raised to think the rivalry is about blood.
Draco offers friendship on the robe-shop trip and turns nasty when he is refused. He is a bully with a father’s name behind him, and the early books let him be unpleasant without asking you to sympathize. He is also a child repeating a politics he was given.
Slytherin house is his public home. The journal’s house notes already refuse the idea that the dungeon and the person are the same verdict. Draco is one person inside that argument, not the whole house.
Later in the story
The sixth book forces him into a task he is not built for, and the last book makes his family choose a room. Those pages complicate him. They do not erase the first five years of cruelty.
