Expelliarmus
A disarming charm. It knocks a wand out of a hand, which in these stories is often enough.
Expelliarmus does not look like a finishing move. It takes the other person’s tool away. The books return to it because the central student prefers a disarm to a darker answer, and because a duel here is often about who is still holding a wand.
That preference becomes a signature. Readers can argue whether it is mercy or a habit that only works if you are lucky. The charm itself is simple: the wand leaves the hand.
