Paddock
Open ground for creatures class, including a hippogriff that expects a bow.
Care of Magical Creatures needs space the dungeon cannot offer. The paddock on this diagram is that space: mud, a fence, and animals with opinions. Hippogriffs are the lesson that makes the spot famous. Bow, wait, and do not show off. The hearing that follows a failed bow is a chapter, not a map label.

Threads that pass through here
- Settled in the storyHow did the Death Eaters get into Hogwarts in the sixth book?
Peeves smashes one cabinet as a favour in book two. A bully vanishes into it in book five and comes back with a story. By book six, Draco Malfoy has turned the pair into the hole in Hogwarts' defences.
- Settled in the storyWhen was Slytherin's locket first mentioned?
A heavy locket nobody could open was thrown out with the rubbish at Grimmauld Place two books before it mattered. The trail runs from that cupboard through a pawnshop, a ministry office, and a thief's stash to the sword that finally opened it.

Dementors embody a law of magic: those who fragment their soul cannot cast the spell that requires psychological wholeness.
